Tech month: Games development

From primitive beginnings like Dig Dug, Alleycat and Pac Man, today's gaming industry rakes in an average of US$10billion a year. So if you want to ride the IT wave, this is probably the surf to catch.

Game development companies can be huge (think of the amount of work required to develop games like Tomb Raider Legend, Final Fantasy and Grand Turismo). But, you'll also be surprised that many game development companies operate with one to two people to create web-based games from Flash and mobile phone games.

How do you become a games developer? Game developers are also known simply as "software developers" and you can become one by doing courses that provide a good curriculum in character animation, bone/biped animation, 3D modelling and texturing and teaches Java programming. Such courses may include computer science and multimedia, or variations of these courses.

What profession lets you sell drugs sans the violence and the life in hiding from authorities?

A pharmacist! While an illegal drug dealer makes better story for Hollywood (and Bollywood!) action-packed movies, pharmacists serve society by helping people choose the right medications, ointments and such. But gone are the days where pharmacists spend their days behind a counter in a pharmacy, that's why it is my job pick of the month.

Pharmacist
Part of your daily job would be to supply and dispense drugs, but more importantly, advice on their appropriate use. Your customers depend of you to help them find the appropriate medications, ointments and such.

You conduct research into the formulation, production, storage, quality control and distribution of medicines and drugs. Read more.

Diploma in Pharmacy Programme offered by INTI College Malaysia
A qualification in Pharmacy allows graduates to practice in community pharmacy, in a government or private hospital, or in industrial pharmacy.

Pharmacists, with their considerable knowledge of drugs, including their sources and effects, can apply this knowledge to the better and more effective use of drugs as medication.

Diploma in Pharmacy holders can assist the Pharmacist and are known as Pharmacy Assistants or Technicians. Graduates of this programme can pursue the Degree in Pharmacy programme which can lead to practice as licensed Registered Pharmacists.

The core subjects in the Diploma in Pharmacy programme are Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, and Pharmacology

In the previous months and on the website, we've highlighted various pre-university options after you've finished your SPM. Each option has its pro and cons, so find out about each one before you decide.

Some considerations:
Structure of course - some are exam-oriented while others are base hugely on coursework. Choose the one that works best for you.

Target university - some are accepted widely while others prepare you for specific universities. Know where you want to go.

Target career - some are academic while others are vocational ie prepares you for work. Opt for courses that can get you to your dream job.

Costs - some are expensive while some are virtually free. Go with the one you can afford.

Ambassador   by lyn
my ambition is to become an ambassador of Malaysia. pls advise what course should i take and which local colleges or universities offer this program.

Reply from doctorjob
To become an ambassador for Malaysia, you need to be a reputable and highly respected individual in society such as a politician, doctor, lawyer, scientist, social psychologist etc or someone who has achieved great things for the country. As an ambassador, knowledge of foreign languages, economic and political situations will be advantageous. Apart from the above route, you can also begin your career in the foreign service by studying political science and becoming an attaché to the ambassador and work your way up. However, people are rarely appointed ambassadors if they do not have a distinguished background and various achievements.
